Bricklane

Questions before you switch

What does Bricklane cost?

Bricklane's price isn't published yet. It takes no cut of your payments, and card and ACH cost only Stripe's fees. How payments work

Which trades does it fit?

It fits any trade that makes recurring visits to client sites, because it's organized around clients, sites, contracts and routes. It doesn't track equipment or parts, so it isn't built for repair work.

Does it handle residential clients and one-off jobs?

Yes. A residential client is a client with one site, and a one-off job is a contract line that runs once. Both go through the same schedule, field app and billing as your commercial work.

Do we have to re-enter our clients and contracts?

No. Clients, sites, price books and contracts can be imported from CSV files, which any spreadsheet program can save. For early-access companies, Jude sets up the contracts with you. What setup involves

Do we need a Stripe account?

Only for card and ACH payments, which run through a Stripe account in your company's name. Checks don't involve Stripe: your office enters them in Bricklane.

Can our office change how a client is billed?

Yes. Your office sets and changes each billing account's terms, purchase order (PO) requirement, grouping and delivery itself. For anything those settings don't cover, it writes its own billing rules, or describes them to the assistant, with a history of every change.

Does it work with QuickBooks?

Yes. Invoices, payments, credit notes and write-offs go to QuickBooks Online, mapped to your chart of accounts, so the office stops keying the month in twice.

Does Bricklane calculate sales tax?

No. A tax service calculates the sales tax that goes on your invoices. Bricklane never calculates it itself.

Does it run payroll?

No. A payroll company connected to Bricklane runs it and handles withholding and filing. Bricklane sends it your people's work and commission.

Can we keep our invoice numbers?

Yes. Numbering can continue the series you use today, and it never skips a number.

Who gets a login, and what can they see?

Anyone who uses Bricklane is invited by email and given a role, such as owner, admin, accountant, dispatcher, technician or read-only. The role sets what they can see and change. People who don't use Bricklane, such as a salesperson whose commission you track, can be listed without a login. Every change in Bricklane is recorded with who made it and when.

Is our data kept separate from other companies'?

Yes. Each company's data is kept apart from every other company's at the database level. Card and bank numbers are held by Stripe and never touch Bricklane's servers.

Is there AI in Bricklane?

Yes, from launch. An assistant sits beside every screen and can answer questions, make changes, build reports and dashboards, and run automations you describe. What the assistant does

Does the AI do the math on our money?

No. Money answers come from the same tested reports you can open yourself, and the assistant links to the report it used. If an answer can't be exact, it says so.

Can the assistant change things on its own?

No. It shows you exactly what it's about to change and waits for you to approve it. Every change it makes is recorded as the assistant's, and billing and setup changes can be rolled back in one click.

What can the assistant see?

Whatever the person asking can see, and nothing more. Its tools follow that person's role, so a tech's assistant can't open the aging report. Bricklane doesn't train or fine-tune any AI model on your data.
